About

Zitch

Zitch is a Tunisian artist who works between painting and drawing, based in Tunis. She began painting in 2019, with large canvases given over to ordinary and repetitive scenes, and returned in 2021 to drawing, the medium of her adolescence, to take on the patriarchal model and the conformity it produces. Feeling the Gap (2022), eighty-two small black and white drawings of scenes of sexual life shown without censorship, made the viewer's own reaction a material of the work. Her research then moved to the place women hold in public space, and to the poster as a way of occupying it. Overflow, her current body of work, turns to appetite and industrial abundance: crisps, sweets and packaging painted at close range, food leaving the image to enter the room. Her solo exhibition of that title opens in Dakar at the end of 2026.
